Meeting called to order by Erin Kirn at 6:00 PM, with a welcome and introductions made.
Introducing STEM for Every Child – Laura Bolsen
Provided a background and explanation of the non-profit she started earlier this year.
Girls Who Code 5-30 girls and provides $300 for ASEDP

BOE Update and E-SPLOST Budget Issues – Allyson Gevertz
SPLOST IV is still ongoing
SPLOST V are overbudget – sprinklers are up for elimination…this doesn’t address student safety but building safety so refocusing. Idlewood – Security fencing is staying. Livsey has HVAC and plumbing. Midvale: High schools scheduled for artificial turf…those are being postponed. This can be funded by the GO Bond to be voted on in March with a project list.
Redistricting: Cascading redistricting is not being proposed by the County at this time, but this would significantly impact the Tucker cluster if it were proposed.
Moving the magnet from Chamblee is being proposed.
SPLOST IV k-12 arts school. There is going to be a hearing to be decided between separate programs, new building or stick to combining at Avondale Middle. In order to take it off SPOST IV then it needs to be declared infeasible. AIC Thursday night.
Open Work Orders – DCSD COO, Dan Drake
Region 2 has 1,087 open work orders…highest in the County.
SSC – contractor to add to existing Facilities Maintenance staff which is super low. Right now, they are working reactive rather than proactive. Each High and Middle School has an onsite person to open work orders in order to approve timeline of work orders and they are soon going to oversee making sure they get done.
Many of the work orders are complete but they haven’t been closed out. Working on it. Maintenance Connect – is the app the staff used.
TCC: 415 open work orders. Idlewood tops the list and Ms. Elder stated that there is a response and the list is diminishing.
Priority is decided by need.

Tucker Middle School: Pablo Cartoya is coming to speak…Will and Grace. October Read a-thon
Smokerise Elementary: Donuts with Dad – 268. STEM Hydroponics garden
Brockett Elementary: 180 grandparents at lunch. Penny Wars going on right now. Donuts for Grown up. Fall festival. Applying to be an IB school.
Midvale Elementary: Read-a-thon: Sleeping in a tent as an incentive. School wide morning meetings Positive profiles the illustrate IB character traits. Innovation Team: PBL, Inquiry and Master Gardener Cert. Learning Garden
Livsey Elementary: Whooos-Reading $10,000. Grandparents day luncheon 200 came out. Technology Club is new. Growth Mindset kick-off party yesterday. STEM cert process is ongoing. Should be done by spring…Certification.
Idlewood Elementary: Morning meetings have been implemented. Idlewood News: fifth grade students have a program. Grandparents 90. October 19th beautification day with Tucker Brewing Co. Outreach program. Culturally responsive trainings for staff.
(Note: Tucker High School’s Principal was not present due to it being Curriculum Night at THS)
